Our Story
What is coco peat?
When coconut husk is processed into coir fiber, the resulting by-products are divided into two components: “fiber” (one-third of the husk) and “Coco Peat” (two-thirds of the husk). Coco Peat, also referred to as coir dust, coir peat, or coir pith, is a highly effective growing medium in the horticulture industry and serves as a superior alternative to Peat Moss. It is renowned for its exceptional water retention capacity and its ability to maximize fertilizer efficiency.
Before being converted into the final product, Coco Peat undergoes a series of processes, including washing, sieving, and drying. It is then pressed into various block sizes to meet specific customer requirements and shipped accordingly. In some cases, Coco Peat is blended with Husk Chips in different ratios based on the vegetation type and customer needs.
Coco Peat is widely recommended in horticulture as a sustainable substitute for Peat Moss. Unlike peat, it is free of bacteria and fungal spores and offers a more environmentally friendly option as it does not contribute to the harmful effects associated with peat mining.
